Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is located approximately 1 hour’s drive from the Kandy City, Pinnawela is both an orphanage and breeding ground for wild elephants which has one of the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Established in 1975, originally founded in order to afford care and provide protection to the many orphaned elephants stranded in the jungles. Each grown animal is given around 76 Kgs (170 Lb) of green manure a day and around 2 Kg from a food bag containing rice bran and maize. Baby Elephants feeding times are 09:15 am, 13:15 pm and 17:15 pm. Duration of the visit at the site approximately 2 Hrs and 30 Mints.

After Breakfast, you are engaged to do a City Tour in Kandy. Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic - Tradition relates that a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha was brought to Sri Lanka in 4th Century A.D. and was enshrined within the Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Tooth. This sacred relic has ever since been the symbol of sovereignty for the Sinhalese kings and always enshrined in great splendor. Prayer services are held daily at dawn, midday, and in the evening and can be viewed by visitors.
Thereafter, drive to Peradeniya and explore the Royal Botanical Gardens, founded in 1824 and containing some of the most valuable collections of plants and trees in the world. Proceed to Nuwara Eliya (Approximate Duration-2 Hrs & 30 Mints -Distance 76 Km)
Once called, Little England, nestling at the foot of Sri Lanka’s tallest mountain Pidurutalagala, is Nuwara Eliya, the islands ost elevated town and home to some of the finest tea plantations in the world. Surrounded by wooded mountains and its picturesque lake, it’s cool temperatures, is a pleasant contrast to the islands tropical weather. Visit the beautiful Pedro Estate where you will experience a tea plantation tour & tea factory visit where you will be taken through the process of making the finest Ceylon tea. Sample different blends of tea with a tea sommelier. Drive around the renowned hill station of Nuwara Eliya, a former retreat for British Civil Servants away from the heat of the plains. Many of its buildings retain features from the colonial period along with a 117 year-old championship golf course, one of the most scenic in the world, nestled between the towns and surrounding forested hills. Visit the Sitha amman kovil.

After Breakfast, you will proceed to Colombo (Approximate Duration 5 Hrs – Distance 180 km)
This evening, enjoy a panoramic city tour of Colombo including shopping. Bursting with life and colours, the islands largest city that was once the capital of Sri Lanka, is now its commercial hub. This modern city with an ancient heart is a monument to its colonial history. Its architecture is influenced by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Today, it is a mix of modern architecture among colonial buildings. The remnants of Dutch and Portuguese domination, is seen primarily in the Fort, located north of the city. One may be surprised to notice the predominant English street names such as York Street, Duke Street & Bristol Street that was a direct result of the British presence in the Island in the 18th century AD. In stark contrast, are modern buildings such as the World Trade Center. Since the end of its civil war, the skyline is constantly changing with investment into the city’s infrastructure.
